Restaurant Review: The Macintosh

For those of you that know me well, you know I'm a HUGE fan of Chef Jeremiah Bacon. Not only is the man easy on the eyes, but his dishes are to-die-for.

When I heard about his new spot The Macintosh or "The Mac" it was a must try on my list. Tonight I had hands down one of the best dining experiences EVER in Charleston. Might  I say, I think this has out-done my previous favorites McCrady's, Cypress and Eurasia.

The ambiance was awesome. I literally sat in my chair and rocked out to the soundtrack at this place. From DMB, Counting Crows and Amy Winehouse I was in love!

The staff rocked out some fabulous J Crew vests, with white button down shirts, ties and dark denim. Totally trendy, and totally fun. I'd rock that outfit on the street.

Did I also mention, for my viewing pleasure- we had the money spot. Right into the kitchen...

The Mac is owned by The Indigo Road Restaurant Group which also owns the newest cocktail lounge in Charleston The Cocktail Club which I've never been but have heard rave reviews.

I started with a Mac-Lite {yes, they have lower calorie versions of their cocktails!}

The Grande Carthusian, EG Vodka, green chartreuse,

Totally yummy, but not something I could drink more then one of.

Now on to the good stuff, the food!

Kurios Farms Bibb Lettuce,

Red Pepper, Agra Dolce, Fresh Crouton

Seared Scallops with cauliflower puree, pine nuts and arugula OMG!

7 oz C.A.B. Grilled Deckle,

Bordelaise

Hungry yet?!?!

Flounder with Parsnip Puree and Braised Greens

Last but not least.. the most DIVINE dessert ever. Props to the pastry chef.

Incredible staff. Fresh & Fabulous Food. Amazing Ambiance. Hot Chef. Really?! I think The Mac is top notch! Can't wait to go back again!

*Please note that  the menu constantly changes daily based upon fresh ingredients and creativity of the chef.

Wish List

I admit it, I've been swamped this past week. We'll just say I'm in wedding hell. It's not a bad thing, but it's just incredibly busy to the point that I haven't stopped in over a week, literally. I guess I deserved my almost 4 hour nap this afternoon.

Although I haven't had mucht time to think household things, I do have a wish-list that I've created. I guess just a little bit at a time...

1. Keep Calm And Carry On

I'm thinking this will be killer in our bathroom framed, still deciding on a color, but thinking grey would be nice. What do you think?

2. I'm mildly obsessed with this Rosette Bedding from Anthropologie in Turf Green.



It's a little over what I was hoping to spend, but in the end I hope I'll have it in our room. I think the color is just perfect and the style is exactly what I was looking for.

3.  Lastly, dear husband. Please book our vacation to Riviera Maya. I've even picked out where to stay- I'm that good Secrets Capri Riviera Maya

I'm already dying from wedding season. My body aches and I'm exhausted. So, please- PLEASE I'm begging!

Watch out, Williamsport

With a trip to visit family and friends in just a few short weeks, I'm already making my list of Pennsylvania must haves. Here are just a few items I'll be stock-piling in my car to come back to SC with me

Only available in PA, these little babies are fantastic. They have a nice zing/spice to them which makes them incredibly delicious.

Don't ask, but I've been craving these. The combination of sweet peanut butter filling and chocolate cake YUM.

Last but not least, Park Pizza. OMG. I can't wait for you. I believe it may be the first meal I have upon my arrival. Lauren, when you pick me up from the airport is it possible to have one of these waiting in your car?



For those friends that live in PA, don't take these items for granted! I'm coming soon :)

The Few Things I Miss.

The move from Philadelphia to Charleston was huge! I don't miss Philadelphia: the traffic, the people, the crazy sports fans. But, now that I'm planning a trip to PA in March with a pit stop in Philadelphia, I'm thinking of those few things I miss and can't wait to partake in :) Since Philly is a popular place for PA folk to visit, as well as out-of-staters, here are my top 5 things I miss {which means if you're visiting make sure to check them out!}

My shopping Mecca. King of Prussia Mall How I miss you Bloomingdales, Sephora & Nordstrom. If your unfamiliar and live in PA this is so worth the road trip! Just look online at their map and it will give you the chills.

From the college days. A delicious Larry's Cheesesteak. By far the BEST in Philly. Right by SJU off of City Ave. UH-Maze-ING! I will be stopping out of my way for one of these babies when I hit the town. Pats & Geno's are in no comparison, who wants WIZ on their cheesesteak? Nasty! Not this girl.

It's not technically Philly, but the Jersey Shore was a close drive away. You probably don't want to admit it, but these people are entertaining as hell. And yes, for those of you who haven't been to Jersey, this is the real deal.

I love Charleston, but it's skyline can't touch Philly. I used to drive into the city when working for Philadelphia Magazine and see this everyday and night for many hours while sitting in traffic. 

Last but not least, probably my most missed item. Steven Starr Restaurants My favorites are Buddakan{pictured} an amazing Asian fusion restaurant & Alma De Cuba {sadly one of the last places we ate before the move}

I'll also leave you with a recipe for one of my favorite cocktails from Continental Midtown 

The Buzz Aldrin

4 parts Tang
2 parts Peach Vodka
1 part Triple Sec

Combine ingredients in a shaker and shake over ice. Strain into a Tang rimmed cocktail glass and enjoy!
