Restaurant Review: The Macintosh

For those of you that know me well, you know I'm a HUGE fan of Chef Jeremiah Bacon. Not only is the man easy on the eyes, but his dishes are to-die-for.

When I heard about his new spot The Macintosh or "The Mac" it was a must try on my list. Tonight I had hands down one of the best dining experiences EVER in Charleston. Might  I say, I think this has out-done my previous favorites McCrady's, Cypress and Eurasia.

The ambiance was awesome. I literally sat in my chair and rocked out to the soundtrack at this place. From DMB, Counting Crows and Amy Winehouse I was in love!

The staff rocked out some fabulous J Crew vests, with white button down shirts, ties and dark denim. Totally trendy, and totally fun. I'd rock that outfit on the street.

Did I also mention, for my viewing pleasure- we had the money spot. Right into the kitchen...

The Mac is owned by The Indigo Road Restaurant Group which also owns the newest cocktail lounge in Charleston The Cocktail Club which I've never been but have heard rave reviews.

I started with a Mac-Lite {yes, they have lower calorie versions of their cocktails!}

The Grande Carthusian, EG Vodka, green chartreuse,

Totally yummy, but not something I could drink more then one of.

Now on to the good stuff, the food!
Kurios Farms Bibb Lettuce,
Red Pepper, Agra Dolce, Fresh Crouton

Seared Scallops with cauliflower puree, pine nuts and arugula OMG!

7 oz C.A.B. Grilled Deckle,
Bordelaise
Hungry yet?!?!
Flounder with Parsnip Puree and Braised Greens

Last but not least.. the most DIVINE dessert ever. Props to the pastry chef.

Chocolate Caramel Torte with Sea Salt

I think this picture does it more justice..

Incredible staff. Fresh & Fabulous Food. Amazing Ambiance. Hot Chef. Really?! I think The Mac is top notch! Can't wait to go back again!

*Please note that  the menu constantly changes daily based upon fresh ingredients and creativity of the chef.

Inside the Actor's Studio with Dave Matthews?!

Dave Matthews, the amazingly talanted musician, now actor, or should we say fabulous extra?

I love an Adam Sandler movie more then anyone, and have noticed that he's been an extra in both I Now Pronounce You Chuck & Larry as well as the newest, Just Go With It. See below exhibit A, the normal DMB we all know and love.

Now in I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry

Lastly, from Just Go With It

This man deserves an Oscar.

B. Gourmet

Although she has no clue I'm doing this, I wanted to do it in secret as she probably would cringe that it's not "complete" yet or hasn't been up and running long enough, but meet my best friend Brooke aka B. Gourmet .

We've been besties since HS, and she recently moved to Chs for culinary school and to me my operations manager at Newton Farms Catering . She's recently started blogging, and hasn't promoted much yet- but she already has killer content, especially her recipes! Now I'm going to embarrass her with some mushy bff pictures throughout the years {love you!}.

Now, do it! Follow B Gourmet . Cheers to many more years together! xoxo

Eat It Up at Eurasia

Wow, you can tell I've obviously been so busy with work, I've been so bad with blogging. I have SO much to catch up on.

Here's a review from a fabulous, new restaurant in Mt.Pleasant Eurasia. If you haven't yet been here, I highly recommend it! The ambiance, food and staff were top notch. It's actually located in a strip mall off of 17N, but you wouldn't ever suspect it when you walk in. If your dreading the downtown scene because it's tourist season, try some of the fabulous off-the-beaten path places in Mt. Pleasant or Johns Island.

The city chic interior with Asian flare is eye candy and sets the tone for everything else. We were greeted at the door by one of the owners, which to me is a huge thing! It's nice to see them involved in daily operation. We chatted of course, about the "industry" since I'm a restaurateur's child and in the food and beverage industry myself.

The menu is divine. So many delicious looking things.

I started with the best Onion Soup I've ever had. The onions were cooked in balsamic, and topped with Mozzarella unlike traditional French Onion Soup.

And the main entree, Pan Seared Big Eye Tuna.

The Happiest of All Hours

Hands down, I'm a huge supporter of happy hour. After a very long, and stressful day dealing with bridezillas and momzillas, sometimes you just need a drink- or two. It's not too often that I get to partake in happy hour, as I normally have events and tastings in the evening, but tonight- I got lucky.

Best happy hour in Charleston goes to Carolina's Southern Bistro. If you live in town and have never been or heard of this place, consider this your lucky day and the best find on a blog EVER.

The Deets:
Monday-Friday
5-7pm
Half Price Wine By The Glass
$4 House Liquor
and... Half Price Bar Menu

Just go and have a smattering of food like we did

What can I say, we live it up since I work in food & bev. All small plates, all half off. Does it get better?

YES.

Parmesan Truffle Fries.

Just do it.

An Ode to The Momma

Is my mother my friend? I would have to say, first of all she is my Mother, with a capital 'M'; she's something sacred to me. I love her dearly...yes, she is also a good friend, someone I can talk openly with if I want to.-Sophia Loren

Happy Mother's Day to the most fabulous woman I know. I love you {and know you're reading this!}.

You Know You're From The North...

There are days that my job is a little overwhelming and stressful, but there are also days that I absolutely love it and wouldn't trade it for the world. Hubby and I just joined the Harbor Club and we're so excited! For those of you that aren't familiar, it's a local Charleston hang out for business people. They have dinners, happy hours, speakers, work space- all kinds of fabulous things for business professionals/ we are trying so hard to be "southern" ha ha.

Tonight was our first official event as members, we did this fabulous Cinco De Mayo boat cruise on this fabulous boat The Palmetto Breeze

Looks fun right? Especially with beer, margaritas and networking. It's been quite nice in Charleston during the day, in the 80s and comfortable at night.

Don't be jealous of this killer view.

This idiot decided it would be a good idea to wear a dress and flip flops while drinking and ice cold beverage on a breezy boat. I'm screaming northerner who doesn't know what to wear on a boat.

Now, we have exhibit B. The proper attire.

At least I did have some hot hubby action to keep me warm :)

PS- Check out the new cut and color from the fabulous Salon 101

The Domestic Man

For those of you that don't already know, I have a fantastic husband. A real man's man, but can also enjoy the finer things in life. He's polished, but also loves manly stuff like oil changes, mowing the lawn and cars.

Here's a little ode to my hubs, and his new blog Rusty Bow tie . It's going to be hilarious and could possibly be more witty then mine- just read his first post.
